As climate breakdown accelerates, the world's biggest climate conference will come to our doorstep. We need to be on the frontline, demanding action.
COP stands for the Conference of the Parties, a yearly event whereby the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) parties come together to assess and make decisions on how to deal with climate change. Every year, a different party acts as a host - Berlin, Germany hosted COP1 in 1995 and now it’s Glasgow’s turn to host COP26 in 2021!
COP26 brings with it a chance for us to demand real action from government’s globally. We as young people in Scotland can use this as an opportunity to connect and mobilise with other organisations across Scotland and globally that are fighting for social and climate justice…
The true shape of the conference is yet to be determined however if progress permits, the event will be taking place between the 1st and the 12th of November at the SEC Glasgow. However, as the past year has seen everything transition online - we know that action can be taken in many forms…
