SYG are kicking off the new year with our January 2022 Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) - come along on the 22nd to get to know fellow Young Greens, develop your activism and policy skills, elect or stand for SYG Council, and learn how you can get more involved with the SYG!

Here’s what’s on! 👇

🕚11am - 11:30am: Welcome/introduction - opening speeches and housekeeping from our co-conveners, and get to know the candidates for SYG Council!
🕚11:30am - 12:15am: Workshop sessions - we have three workshop sessions in this time slot, which you can see below! Don’t worry if you want to go to more than one, as they’ll all be repeated or recorded for the future!

  1. Intro to SYG - Are you new here? Or just wanting some more foundational information on how SYG works? Then this is the session for you! Join our Membership Officer, Sophie, to learn about what it means to be a Scottish Young Green!

  2. Campaigning training - Did you hear, there's going to be an election this year! In this session you can learn more about how to campaign from our Election & Campaign Officer, Ewan and real life Council Candidate, Blair!

  3. Policy session - If you want to get into the nitty-gritty of green politics you're going to need some policy knowhow. Policy is makes the guidelines that impact decisions and allow us to achieve radical change!

🕒12:20am - 1pm: Hustings - get to know the SYG Council candidates and ask them your burning questions about them and the positions!

🕕1pm - 2pm: Lunch! Trying Veganuary this year? Or just fancy some new recipes? We’ve put together some simple lunchtime options here - have a look if you’re interested!

🕖2pm - 2:30pm: SYG Awards - where we recognise the great work done by activists in and out of SYG, helping to shape the Greens and Scottish politics as a whole. Nominations are open here - we’d love to know who and what your favourite activists, campaigners, or events are!

🕖2:30pm - 2:45pm: Guest speakers - where we’ll be hearing from people across Green poltics and activism!

🕘3pm - 3:30pm: Local Group sessions - get to know Scottish Greens and Council candidates near you! Each local group will have their own session, and each are doing slightly different things - but expect a chance to meet other activists or even Council candidates near you, and how to get involved more with local groups and local campaigning and activism!

🕛3:30 - 4pm: Election results and closing speeches - finish off a busy day of events, and find out the main event of the day - who the new members of the SYG Council will be!
