Election Special | March Newsletter
Will Rennie is on weird photoshoots, a Tory is standing on top of a tank, and Scottish Labour is desperately trying to disassociate itself from Scottish Labour. Yep, it must be ✨election time ✨
We've got all this good stuff, plus far too many opportunities to fit into one newsletter.
SUPPORT THE CAMPAIGN
⚡ 8 quick actions you can take
The Scottish Greens could be on course for a record number of MSPs. You know it, we know it, and Anas Sarwar knows it so well that he's plagiarised our name.
As we threaten a record success, richer parties are mobilising to squeeze us out. While they have money, we have people. So let's mobilise. On the page linked below are 8 quick actions you can take to help push the Party over the finish line.
SYG CITIZENS’ ASSEMBLY ON TRANSPORT
🗣️ Have your say this Thursday
Scotland's young people need better public transport. You know it, we know it, even the Scotrail Twitter admin knows it deep down. That's why we're organising the citizens' assembly style event 'Moving Forward: A Just Transition for Scottish Transport' this Thursday @ 6pm.
If you want to have your say on how public transport can benefit you, sign up with the link below.
This is a project funded by FYEG and Youth Council of Europe for the #JustTransitionInAction project
WHAT WE’VE BEEN DOING
🚀 COP26 Group Launches
The climate is breaking down. You know it, we know it, only Douglas Ross doesn't know it. With COP26 coming to Glasgow, organising for climate justice in Scotland has never been more important. That's why 22 SYG members have come together to launch our COP26 Working Group.
We have campaigns, events, and communications teams, but we're looking to set up an extra 'logistics' team. This important team will work with our friends in international organisations to help them to come to Glasgow. Sound interesting? Get involved by emailing the address below saying why you'd like to join the team. No experience required!

😎🤙👑 Lorna Slater
Lorna won the BBC election debate. You know it, we know it, Google Trends knows it. While the rest of us were on Twitter laughing at that gif, the Party's superb Co-Leader was calling out a Conservative candidate for being a landlord. Behind the scenes, Lorna has been a reliable and vocal supporter of SYG since well before she was Co-leader.
In the immortal words of Zara Larsson, This One's For You, Lorna.

THE GOOD NEWS
✊ Divestment campaign success in Glasgow
Glasgow City Council has finally voted to divest Strathclyde Pension Fund from fossil fuel companies. This comes after years of campaigning by Divest Strathclyde culminated in a motion led by our very own Young Green, Kim Long.
What does this mean? Well, the Scottish Government local pension scheme is the single biggest public store of wealth that we have, and much of it is invested in fossil fuel companies. By working with grassroots organisation, the we can push pension funds to put that money elsewhere.
This is a huge win that chips away at the power of fossil fuel companies and ultimately saves lives.
